DESCRIPTION

The “THEATRE2SEA” focuses on specialized teaching on European Union developments concerning Environmental Pressures on Mediterranean Coastal Communities ( European Green Deal, EU Biodiversity Strategy, Zero Pollution Action Plan, Farm to Fork strategy). However, what makes the Program attractive and interesting is the way of teaching. Traditional lecture methods are not used but applied theatre techniques, specifically community theatre. This project describes a complex interdisciplinary approach to disseminating the European Union's strategies about environmental pressures in the Mediterranean. Although there are many European actions, sometimes conventional science fails to communicate the impact of environmental pressures and climate change to an audience and to inform about the proposed solutions. THEATRE2SEA suggests an alternative, more engaging way of teaching and communicating with the academic public and other social groups. The experiential way of teaching using applied theatre techniques increases awareness and drives behavioral change. The lectures and experimental workshops of applied theatre are implemented not only for the students of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, but also to Erasmus cooperating university departments in the Mediterranean with which the above University has concluded transnational agreements.
