PARTICIPANTS

1. Alexandrakis George (Member)

George Alexandrakis (Dr) is currently a collaborative researcher at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics at the Foundation of Research and Technology – Hellas. His current research interests include coastal processes, risk and vulnerability analysis, and coastal zone management and spatial planning. He was Principal Investigator in the ClimaTourism project (2012-2015) which investigated the influence of climatic change on the coastal environment in relation with tourist planning. Currently, he is involved as scientific leader in the EU H2020 and Greek National projects in the fields of Risk and vulnerability assessments. Also, he was collaborating with INGV-OV Naples, Italy as Principal Investigator in the Brains2Islands project (Italian National research funds), which investigates the risk from natural hazards of archaeological sites in the Aeolian Islands, Italy. He has participated as a researcher in 12 concluded research projects and has more than 25 publications on journals, book chapters and 80 in conference proceedings. He has active collaborations with research institutes and universities in Germany, Italy, Greece and Portugal. 

2. Altouva Alexia (Member)

Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Athens (NKUA), graduate of the same department, and awarded a PhD degree with honors in 2008. Her dissertation entitled “The phenomenon of female star system in Greece during the 19th century” was funded by the Research Grants Program: Heraclitus. She has been scientific collaborator and assistant for organizing several research programs implemented with co-financing from the European Social Fund and national resources. She has been participated as a speaker in several Scientific Meetings and Conferences both in Greece and abroad and she has published articles in scientific magazines and omnibus volumes. She has also been coordinator or member of the scientific committee of several theatrological Conferences. Her research interests include the history and the theory of acting, the history of Modern Greek theatre in the 19th and the 20th century, History of Greek Theatre Companies, Greek Actors: History and biography.

3. Bousiopoulou Thalia (Member)

Thalia Bousiopoulou is a member of the Specialized Teaching Stuff at the Department of Theatre Studies, Faculty of Philosophy of University of Athens. She studied at the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy of University of Athens. She acquired a Postgraduate Study Degree in “World Theatre: Act, Dramaturgy, Theory” of the Postgraduate Studies Program of the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens having received a scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece (2010-2012). In 2018 she acquired a PhD from the University of Lille (formerly Lille 3), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she conducted a thesis on: “Tragic person – tragic character in contemporary dramatic writing in France and Greece” (Personne tragique – personnage tragique dans les écritures dramatiques contemporaines en France et en Grèce). In 2018-2020, as an associate member of the CECILLE research laboratory (Centre for the Study of Foreign Cultures, Languages and Letters) of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Lille, she conducted a research project within the framework of the thematic: “Espaces autres, partages sensibles, sociétés spectaculaires”. She is currently conducting postdoctoral research at the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens, while at the same time she is carrying out research work at the Research Laboratory “Theatre, Philosophy and Education” of the same Department”. She is co-editor of the French-language annual revue "Petits Essais"-Μικρά δοκίμια and co-founder of the homonymous non-profit Greek-French association founded in 2021.

4. Diakoumopoulou Aikaterini (Coordinator)

Aikaterini (Katerina) Diakoumopoulou is Assistant Professor of Modern Greek Theatre, with an emphasis on Theatre of the Greek Diaspora, in the Theatre Studies Department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She studied Theatre Studies in the NKUA, where she then completed postgraduate studies. In 2007, she received her Doctoral Degree from the Sociology Department of Panteion University. Her thesis, The Greek theatre in New York from the end of the 19th century until 1940, was published subsequently in 2020 by Kappa Publishing. She has carried out post-doctoral research on Greek actors of Diaspora at the Theatre Studies Department of NKUA, having received a post-doctoral scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (2009-2010). She has worked as a visiting professor in Higher Education for thirty-six (36) semesters teaching theatre courses. She has also worked in the private sector as a Production Manager for both Greek and non-Greek theatre, music and dance productions, in addition to as a dramatist and dramaturg. As a playwright, she has received the 3rd State Prize for Debut Playwright of the Greek Ministry of Culture in 2007 and Praise from the Greek National Committee of UNESCO in 2009. She has also translated into Greek the play The Captive Greek or The Fall of Athens written in 1822 by Mordecai Manuel Noah, published by Kappa Publishing (2021), Athens. Finally, her scientific interests focus on Modern Greek Theatre with an emphasis on Theatre of the Greek Diaspora, Applied Theatre, Environmental Community Theatre, Sociology of Drama and Theatrical Production.

5. Dikaios George (Member)

Dr is a lecturer and a postdoctoral researcher at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He is affiliated with the Department of Ports Management and Shipping & the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. He is also a Senior Research Fellow and Project Manager of the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy and a Research Fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy & the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). His research has been funded by the NKUA, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, and the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF). His work revolves around climate diplomacy, maritime transport policies, sustainable blue growth, ΑΙ policies, and international and European institutions. He is a member of several scientific associations, acts as a consultant in research projects, and often participates in international conferences. Ηis articles have been published in Greek and international academic journals. He participates as a researcher and member of the academic staff in several EU-funded projects (such as Jean Monnet Modules and HORIZON). He has studied political science, with an emphasis on international organization, at the NKUA and Leiden University (The Netherlands). His first book is EU Climate Diplomacy towards the IMO and ICAO (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024).

6. Michalopoulos Panagiotis (Member)

Panagiotis Michalopoulos received a B.A. and an M.Phil. in Theatre Studies from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece) and completed his postgraduate studies at the same university, receiving a D.Phil. He joined the Department in 2020 as Assistant Professor in Theatre Studies, having previously taught at University of Athens and at University of Peloponnese, as well as at a private drama school. He has participated in a scientific project of Academy of Athens about dramaturg Georgios Chortatsis. He has also collaborated with many Greek subsidized theatres. He has participated in several conferences; he has published a monograph, as well as many articles and essays in scientific journals and collective volumes. His research focuses principally on Modern Greek theatre of the 20th century, performance studies, theatre directing, as well as politics in performance and theatre as a site of social engagement. Since 2020 he also teaches at the Hellenic Open University. Since 2022 he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Epidaurus Festival.

7. Vasilopoulou Athanasia 

Athanasia Vasilopoulou graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Economics and has postgraduate degrees studies in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University in U.K. and in Business Administration from ALBA. She also graduated with honors in 2020 from the Department of Theatre Studies, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and she is a Post Graduate Student in Drama and Performance at the same Department. He has over 20 years of work experience in multinational companies, such as Elais-Unilever and Johnson & Johnson Hellas, in managerial positions in Greece and UK, has attended acting courses at the Iasmos Drama School and her interest is focused on directing, managing and organizing theatre productions. In the period Oct.-Dec. 2018, she was the Assistant Director in the performance The Cow by Nazim Hikmet in Theatre 104, directed by Androniki Tsetika. From February 2022 she cooperates with Porta Theatre and Thomas Moschopoulos in the organization of theatrical productions. She speaks English and French. In the period from March to June 2022, she was on the Organizing Committee of the International Scientific Conference ‘Research, synthesis, interpretation. Approaching the theatre of Spiros A. Evagelatos’ organized by the Philosophy, Theatre, Education Workshop of the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the Municipality ofArgostoli, that took place June 3 – 5 June 2022 in Kefalonia. In the period from February to November 2023, she was on the Organizing Committee of the 1st International Conference for the Theatre of the Hellenic Diaspora organized by the Faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), the MA Program “Greek and World Theatre: Drama, Performance, Education” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy – Belgium, that took place 24 – 25 November 2023 in Brussels. She is on the Management Board of the Alumni Network of the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
