Description
The Lab for Aesthetic Education (LAeB - Labor Ästhetische Bildung) is a new research facility at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna. The aim is to explore and practically implement the methodology of Education through Arts in cross-curricular areas of teacher training. Two European research projects, SLIDE and ACIIS, are currently located in the LAeB. The projects focus on the transformation of art education through service-learning on the one hand and drama education on the other. The idea is to test and research exemplary lesson development in non-rivalrous and collective settings. The panel session consists of a presentation of three parts "Service-Learning", "Drama Education", and "Inclusion & Diversity Guidelines". In a further step the aspects empowerment, diversity and resilience are discussed. The Session ends with a short common performance activity.

Florentine Paudel
is a Professor at the University College of Teacher Education in Vienna, where she contributes to the Center for Research Management. Her academic journey includes completing a doctorate at the University of Vienna's Institute for Educational Science in 2021, following a PraeDoc position at the Center for Teacher Education (2017-2020). Her research and teaching interests center on literacy, language education, and inclusive pedagogy, with a strong emphasis on fostering inclusive university and school development. As part of her ongoing commitment to educational innovation, she has recently engaged with Service-Learning in the Erasmus+ project, focusing on transformative approaches that promote courage and change in arts education.
Wilfried Swoboda
s Artist & Philosopher, PhD in educational theory with research activities in basic pedagogical research focussing on ‘mental immersion’: development of the theory of immersion, ongoing national and international lectures and publications. Teacher qualification for special education, computer science and museum education. MA in school development, IPMA Level D and MBA in Project and Process Management. Network activities: - International Society for Education through Art (InSEA) - Collaborative Action Research Network (CARN-DACH) - World Association of Lesson Studies (WALS). Review Committee Member of the International Academic Forum (IAFOR). InSEA World Award 2024 ‘Excellence in Praxis in Education through Art’.
Prof. Dr. Rolf Laven
is an artist specializing in sculpture, installation, painting, and socially engaged art. He is a Professor of Art/Design-Didactics at the University College of Teacher Education, the Academy of Fine Arts, the University of Applied Arts Vienna.nLaven holds a Master of Arts (1998) in sculpture and a Master in Art/Design-Education (1995) from the Akademie der bildenden Künste, where he completed his PhD in 2004. His research focuses on community-based learning and empowerment. He contributes to Erasmus+ projects like ACIIS (Academy for Creative, Innovative, and Inclusive Schools) and SLIDE (Service-Learning, Inclusion, Diversity and Digital Empowerment).
