Description
This workshop incorporates theoretical and practical approaches to assist children and adolescents dealing with school refusal. In the first part of the workshop, we will delve into what school refusal is, how it manifests in children and adolescents, its causes, as well as its risk factors. Additionally, there will be a brief presentation on play therapy, along with scientific data regarding its effectiveness in addressing school refusal. Moving to the second part of the workshop, the participants will be engaged in therapeutic play activities, designed to aid children and adolescents facing school refusal.

Anastasia Kourti is a graduate of the Department of Primary Education and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Educational Sciences and Social Work at the University of Patras. She holds two master's degrees: an MSc in Language and Communication Impairment in Children from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in Strategies of Developmental and Adolescent Health from NKUA (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). This year, she completes her four-year training in play therapy. Since 2011, she has been working with children, adolescents, and adults, following a neurodivergent affirming as well as LGBTQ+ affirming approach
