The workshop proposal aims to investigate the use of interactive tools to enhance the musical education of children, with a focus on vocal training in elementary schools. The ASMA Tool-Suite (Assistance for Singing and Music Aesthetics) includes several tools that address important aspects such as Phonetic Maps, Formant and Vocal Range Profile, Vocal Quality Tools, Rhythmic and Melodic Accuracy, and Coordination and Accuracy in Polyphony. These tools, aim to develop essential skills, promote technological literacy, facilitate personalized learning, and improve collaborative abilities. The proposal describes the impact of each tool on children's musical education, highlighting the importance of real-time demonstrations and discussions for effective integration into the classroom. The ASMA Tool-Suite is a transformative initiative that addresses challenges in Greek elementary schools and redefines music education through a multifaceted, inclusive, and technologically enriched approach.

Natalia Kotsani is a graduate of the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences of NTUA and a PhD candidate in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA, under the supervision of Prof. D. Fotakis. She completed the Masters Degree Program «Jazz Music Performance and New Technologies» of UOA, in 2019, and has since been in the team of Scientific Associates of the Music Acoustic and Technology Laboratory (LabMAT) of UOA. She studied singing techniques and vocal performance with E. Kylpasi, M. Symeonidou (National Conservatory of Greece) and E. Paspala, jazz singing with S. Papalambrou (NKUA), music theory with Ch. Kanas (Athens Conservatoire), classical piano with D. Mallouchos (Athens Conservatory) and jazz piano with S. Lantsias. Since 2009 she has been an active musician and vocalist of the world music scene and, as the lead singer of the band encardia, since 2011, she have many concerts and seminars in Greece and abroad as well as numerous collaborations and a rich discography. From 2010 to 2013 she was a research associate at the Herakleidon Museum in Athens, in the "Art & Mathematics" educational program, designing topics and giving interactive presentations to students of all levels. Her research interests, as a member of the Computation and Reasoning Lab of NTUA, pertains to Algorithms & Complexity, Algorithmic Game Theory and Machine Learning Theory. She is collaborating with Artificial Intelligence Lab on research projects about Computational Ethnomusicology and Musical Information Retrieval through the use of Machine Learning techniques. She is a Professor of jazz improvisation, contemporary and folk singing at Philippos Nakas Conservatory, Athens, Greece. She was selected as Mentor of the conference New Interfaces Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) 2022.
Dr. Sofia Stavropoulou (Post-Doctoral Researcher NKUA) is a graduate of the Department of Music Science and Art at the University of Macedonia (Greece). She is also a graduate of the intradepartmental postgraduate program: Music Culture and Communication, of the University of Athens (UOA), (MA). She holds diplomas in Piano and Music Theory Studies, as also in Byzantine Music. She is also a graduate in Singing studies. Her thesis (PhD) is related to the amelioration of children’s singing voice and real time visual feedback software. She worked as a Music teacher in primary and secondary education for 12 years and now she is an Art consultant at the Institute of Educational Policy, Greece.
Giorgos Dedousis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds an Integrated Master's Degree from the same Department, a Master's Degree from City University London, and a Bachelor's Degree from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (NKUA). He has participated in three funded research projects (ASMA, THEO.DOC.MEMO, TRACCE) and presented at various conferences. He has studied piano and holds degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, and Contemporary Singing. Currently, he teaches Theory of Music and performs his compositions and songs live at various venues.
Dr. Areti Andreopoulou is an Assistant Professor in Music Technology, at the Department of Music Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Studies from the same department (2005) and a Master’s (2008) and a Ph.D. degree (2014) in Music Technology from New York University. She is a researcher in the Laboratory of Music Acoustics and Technology (LabMAT) NKUA. Her research interests include but are not limited to 3D and spatial audio, the design and evaluation of immersive auditory environments, auditory displays, assistive technologies, multimodal interactions, data sonification, acoustics, and audio signal processing.
Anastasia Georgaki is Professor of Music Technology and Head (since 2019) of the Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Director of the Laboratory of Music Acoustics and Technology, and Head of the Postgraduate program "Music Technology and Contemporary Practices". She holds a Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Music Technology and Musicology (IRCAM, collaboration with EHESS). Research areas: systematic musicology through acoustic analysis of the singing voice, synthesis of the singing voice, prosodic models of singing, biomusicological models, aesthetics and ethics of music technology in contemporary research, systematic study of technological models in music creation.
