Introduction to Ancient Greek morphosyntax (Dag Haug, University of Oslo)

 

This course is an introduction to Ancient Greek morphosyntax. We cover some of the most important syntactic structures of Ancient Greek (complementation, participles, clitics and what they can tell us about clause structure) in a comparative perspective. There will also be an introduction to the Ancient Greek dialects.

By the end of the course, students should have – an understanding of the basic structures of Ancient Greek – an understanding of key issues in Ancient Greek historical linguistics – familiarity of the relationships between Ancient Greek dialects

 

No prior knowledge of Ancient Greek will be assumed, although you should know the Greek alphabet!
