Description

In the 80s, Connes introduced the tangent groupoid using which he gave a conceptual proof of the Atiyah-Singer index theorem. Based on work by Androulidakis and Skandalis, we will present a generalisation of Connes's construction in sub riemannian geometry. We will then present two applications of this construction. The first is a proof of the Helffer-Nourrigat conjecture. The second is an index formula for any maximally hypoelliptic differential operator.

The first application is a joint work with Androulidakis and Yuncken.
